Robbie Agnew started his apprenticeship at age 16, spending time with Mack Griffith before taking a few years off to work for Gai Waterhouse. When he recommenced, he spent time with Stephen Lee and finally returned to Port Macquarie with local trainer Tas Morton.

Robbie was a successful jockey, riding over 100 winners, while mainly riding on the country scene, he also had winners at Randwick and the $100,000 Gold Coast Bat out of Hell. While completing his apprenticeship, Robbie won the Mid North Coast Apprentice of the Year award.

As a jockey , Robbie modelled himself off Peter Graham, hard working – with a good work ethic, and he has continued this into his training career.

Initially Robbie started training as a rider/trainer, but is now focusing all his attention of training. Robbie’s vast knowledge of horses meant that he was instantly successful, getting a winner with one of the first horses he trained, Joey’s Gift.

Robbie has been able to continue this momentum in recent years with a disciplined approached to his training methodology. The team has placed a high emphasis on the future focusing on buying high quality yearlings with the assistance of the experienced bloodstock consultant Rod Scott.
